When you sign up through our join page, we collect:
- First name — to personalise your experience
- Email address — to give you community access and send you updates
We do not collect payment information, phone numbers, or any sensitive personal data at sign-up.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your name and email address to:
- Create your account and grant access to the Sustainable Building Network community
- Send you a welcome email sequence with your community invite link and course access
- Send occasional updates about community events, new content, and decarbonization resources
- Respond to any questions or support requests you send us
We will never use your information for any purpose you have not consented to.
4. Third-Party Services We Use
To deliver our community, courses, and email communications, we use the following third-party platforms:
- Decarbonization Academy (decarbonizationacademy.com) — our course provider. The Foundations of Building Decarbonization course and all other educational content available to members is developed and delivered by the Decarbonization Academy. By accessing course content, you are also subject to the Decarbonization Academy's privacy policy at decarbonizationacademy.com/privacy. The Sustainable Building Network and the Decarbonization Academy share the same privacy practices and data handling standards.
- Circle.so — our community platform. When you join, you will create a Circle account. Circle's privacy policy applies to your use of the community: circle.so/privacy
- Sender.net — our email marketing platform. Your name and email are stored in Sender.net to manage our welcome sequence and community updates. Sender.net's privacy policy: sender.net/privacy-policy
- Netlify — our website and form hosting platform: netlify.com/privacy
Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing the data they process. We only share with them what is necessary to deliver the service.
5. Email Communications
When you join, you will receive a short welcome email sequence (3 emails over 4 days) containing your community access link and introductory content about our Mission 40-40 initiative.
After the welcome sequence, you may receive occasional updates from us about community events, new resources, and decarbonization content relevant to AEC professionals.
You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email we send. We will remove you from our mailing list promptly.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as you are a subscriber or community member. If you unsubscribe from emails, we will remove you from our mailing list. If you wish to have all your data deleted, contact us at [email protected] and we will action your request within 30 days.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have the right to:

- Request deletion of your data
